Online Workshop

About the event

Join an online space where you reconnect with your body by starting with breath, getting rid of tensions and exploring bodily awareness. Expect to be facilitated to open up your perception to locate stimuli of your choice, move to music, so as to set free your unique movement improvisations. You’ll then find imageries from your life experiences and express feelings with bodily expression. Explore to use these tools to help you move freely, express, improvise and reflect.

Suitable for all levels of creative experience. You do not need a movement/dance background to join this workshop. A detailed guide to help you fully enjoy this online workshop will be sent to your mailbox prior to the event. So don't worry, we've got your back.

We'll also have a Q&A at the end of a practice-based session.

For this ONLINE workshop you will need a tiny space to move in, e.g. your room as well as papers and pens (colours if you'd like). Comfortable clothing and a private and quiet space are suggested. You can bring a yoga mat or something to lie on, if you have one but that's not necessary.

This workshop is facilitated by Qingyang Wang, whose recent movement practice has a focus on spontaneity and individual expression. Approaches used here are inspired by concepts and techniques of the Life/Art Process and RSVP Cycles of the honoured practitioner, Anna Halprin.

Qingyang has been drawing on autobiographical materials work with physical movement and poetic text for the past 3 years. Qingyang is an actor, theatre maker and writer, having performed and made works in the UK and in China. Holding an MA Theatre Practice from the University of Exeter, her performance practice has been influenced by various movement-based and intercultural approaches, including those from Anna Halprin, Laban and Philip Zarrilli. Her current performance Journey of Whispering Dreams is a blending of poetic text, physical movement, soundscapes, Chinese Classical dance and intercultural references, selected to premiere at FUSE International on the 2nd July 2023.
