About the event

It’s time for another one of our signature workshop Devising with Collaborative Energy Online, falling on 3rd Dec Tuesday 13:00 UK time!

Following an interesting last session starting from a random piece of visual art, we are continuing this game as a prompt…

This time we'll be connecting internationally via a shared stimulus - a beautiful (but random) piece of visual art, chosen by chance. We'll take inspiration from the image, immersing our imaginative brains in that world. We'll respond with writing and movement exercises, flowing from one art form to another.

We'll share and create our work collaboratively, enjoying the similarities & celebrating the differences in where our individual creative brains journey to. A space to connect, reflect, explore, create. Opportunities to check in with yourself personally and with your creativity.

Log in from the comfort of your space wherever you are. In the 1.5 hours, we fuse the unique talents and collective creativity of the group, with members meeting from across the UK & internationally.

Since 2023, our Devising Online with Collaborative Energy workshops have provided a supportive and engaging virtual theatre space for creative souls. These sessions explore gem tools of theatre devising such as ideation, movement, improvisation, group exercises, and creative writing and have inspired all sorts of creative possibilities. Participants here have explored bodily relaxation, being playful with movement through physical theatre, building characters through improv and group collaboration, unlocked creative expression that benefit wellbeing or solve creative blocks…

This workshop accommodates all levels of experience and different backgrounds. You do not need prior experience in theatre to join. We have previously welcomed creatives of all walks and they found the sessions helpful for their personal wellbeing or creative development. It’s the workshop for you if you are either interested in exploring these tools involved OR if just want to join an inspiring creative group, move your body and have some playful fun from the comfort of your home...

Expect to:

  • Feel relaxed and facilitated to explore, opening up new paths to creativity

  • Engage in the process of creating something from scratch

  • Benefit from bodily awareness and movement exploration

  • Experience a lively, playful, and fun theatre-making atmosphere

Hosted by Waterway, this workshop will be led by Alice Higginson-Clarke: a theatre-maker, performer & writer who has been a Co-Artistic Director of Scratchworks Theatre Company. Since it began in 2013. With 10 years' award-winning track record of highly visual and playful theatre, Scratchworks is a physical ensemble of three women blending movement, comedy, live music and imagination to bring a story to life. Participants highly recommend Alice for her excellence in facilitating a relaxing, resourceful, and fun group environment where everyone feels supported to explore, create, and learn.
